Choose 3 skills, 3 areas of knowledge and 3 personal qualities that you wish to develop during Galileo. The list below will help you to choose your goals.
During the term you should reflect upon your progress towards these goals, and post these reflections on your blog.
You could think about:
which goals you have made progress towards, and why.
which goals you have not made progress towards, and why.
what evidence you have to show that you have made progress (or not).
Add your learning goals to this Google Doc. Please do not vandalise or mess with the information. We hope to be able to trust Chapman and plan the program for a reasonable level of maturity and independence :) Thanks for your co-operation
You will receive two progress reports during the term - one in the middle of the term and one in the final week of term.
In addition to your Learning Goals, you must set a goal for your "Achievement" grade (a number 0-100, multiples of 10 only). You should set this goal by the end of week 1.
The document below contains the two marking schemes describe what you, as a student, need to be doing in order to achieve a certain score for "Achievement" and "Attitude and Effort" on your progress reports.
You will be responsible for assessing yourself for your mid-term and end-of-term progress reports. You should write your self-assessment as a blog post, and refer carefully to the dot-points in the rubric to justify which score you give yourself.
If you wish, you can also submit your self-assessment directly to your homegroup teacher on paper.
PROGRESS REPORT REFLECTION
You will receive a score for both "Attitude & Effort" and 'Achievement". You are required to respond to these scores and your reflection will be included on your report which is due to go home next week.
What to do:
- Check your score against the rubric descriptions on the "Learning Goals' page of the Wiki. - If you do not understand why you received the score you did, check your blog and the homework record. Approach you home group teacher to clarify why you have received your score.
If you feel that your score has been given in error, you may argue for a higher or lower score but you will need to provide evidence
What to write:
In an email to your home group teacher, compose a paragraph or two addressing the following:
- What is your response to the score? Surprise? Disappointment? Pride? Satisfaction? - How does your score compare to the goal you set for yourself/ - What behaviours to do you think contributed to your score? This includes behaviours that both boosted and prevented your score from being higher. - What are at least two clear, simple changes you can make to improve your score? Check the rubric to see how to take your score to the next level. You should also explain briefly how you can give yourself the best chance of making a positive change that lasts.
*YOU MUST SPELLCHECK AND PROOFREAD YOUR REFLECTION. WE WILL SEND IT HOME VERBATIM *
